Research
Research explores five main themes: early life history stages, historical ecology, climate and ecology, fisheries management, and ecological connectivity across marine and freshwater ecosystems. Understanding how broad changes due to warming temperatures or habitat destruction affect the subtle details of aquatic food web interactions at different life stages and in different locations may be key to improving management strategies.
Graduate and undergraduate students integrate results from ongoing fieldwork in the Caribbean and New England with detailed laboratory analyses and historical contextualization to explore complex interactions at multiple scales. Through active collaborations across academic institutions, non-profit and governmental agencies students in the JORDAAN LAB participate in finding practical solutions to some of the pressing environmental problems of our time.
