Who We Are

UNIVERSITY of MASSACHUSETTS AQUATIC ECOLOGY PROGRAM

Professors Adrian Jordaan, Allison Roy, Andy Danylchuk and Michelle Staudinger – form the core of the UMass Aquatic Ecology Program. Whether exploring the spatial and temporal structure and function of aquatic ecosystems, understanding how urbanization and its stressors degrade fish assemblages, evaluating potential impacts of recreational angling on fish populations, or linking climate factors with an organism’s biology, life-history, and demography, their individual and collaborative research incorporates the latest methodology, technology, and hands-on fieldwork to answer some of the most pertinent conservation and management questions today.

JORDAAN LAB

The Jordaan Lab’s integrated research program relates observed trends in the characteristics of individual species and ecological communities to natural and human-induced factors that cause environmental change. Research explores five main themes: early life history stages, historical ecology, climate and ecology, fisheries management, and ecological connectivity across marine and freshwater ecosystems. Senior Researchers, Visiting Scholars, Graduate Students, and Undergraduate Students bring diverse backgrounds and interests to their research, and form a cohesive and lively working group. Children and dogs are welcome.
